My Evaluation Of This Course

I understand that it is impossible to teach students a whole semester of work in five weeks but the course was very helpful. The teacher was helping the students on writing better introductions in formal essays and how to catch the audience attention on a given topic. We did not get deep into research but we was taught the basics as in APA citation.Hopeful the little bit of research we know now would be some help in Complex II during fall. The Diana Ross cite is the perfect tool for improving writing skills. Even though Ms. Ross was heartless at times, it was for the best. The overabundance of work that she gave us was worth it because she was trying to prepare us for fall semester.I do not think Ms. Ross should change her teaching ways and hope that the next years ABC group can get it just as bad or worse as we did.

My Reflective Essay

I am 17 years old born to the Squires family in Indianapolis, Indiana but I was raised in Stone Mountain Georgia. My parents are divorced so I live with my dad along with my little brother, William Squires III. The Squires family revolves around sports. My dad is a sports fanatic because that’s all he talks about especially when I’m around it seems like. He always reminisces about the times when he was young playing football, basketball, wrestling, and running track. It gets on my nerves from time to time because he brings it up at the wrong time. My dad kind of forced me into sports.
I started playing sports in the 1st grade. Baseball was my first sport, then football. In baseball, I have won MVP awards and best hitter awards but the sport was not entertaining me so I quit and stuck with football. First football was not my best sport because I was a little twig being pushed around all the time. I could not quit because I did not want to be known as a quitter. As the years went by, my body adjusted and my skills got better. So far football has paid my way to college but I do not expect it to get me to the pros. I plan on furthering my education and major in business and hopefully have a good job in the future that would pay the bills easily.
The pros is not something I would want to rely on. It’s just a plus if I make it to the pros but anything could happen. I could quit, get hurt or not have a spot on the college team and have no chance in the pros. I think education is something to fallback on and prepare for the future just in case.
Prison Trip

People make mistakes in life. Mistakes lead to consequences. Prison is a big consequence. At 10:15 a.m. the students and I got on the bus for a visit to the Perry County correctional center. When we arrived at the prison, it shocked me because the prison was surrounded by an electric fence so the prisoners could not escape. Inside the prison are guards protecting the halls from any dangers. The guards job is very important and dangerous. They watch everything that goes on in the prison. They make sure crazy outbreaks do not happen.
Prisoners do not get much to eat. The food they get could not fill up a child. The prisoners are not aloud to deal with chemicals as in detergent, liquid medicine or anything used for drugs or a dangerous hazard to harm someone else. Pens, Knives and jewelry are not allowed for the prisoners because they are identified as weapons. Belts are also not allowed. They can be used for suicide or a weapon for choking others.
The worse parts about prison were diseases lurking around. Some prisoners are HIV positive or have TB so guards and doctors have to take precaution. Every room had an air pressure system to suck up all the diseases lingering in the air. Because of the air pressure, the prison did not have air condition in most rooms so the rooms were hot if its hot outside or cold if the weather is cold. The rooms in the prison were no bigger than the dorms in Concordia College. The doors were concealed with several locks with a little window used by the guards to watch the prisoners every move. Most rooms had 2 to 6 people. Each room could be filled with whites, blacks, Mexicans, Asians, killer, and abusers. So a prisoner has to constantly stay alert to survive.
I learned that prison is not a place I should be in. Keeping a good head on my shoulders should keep me out .Being roomed with crazy mates would bother me. I would not know who to trust.

· Women have a lot of ground to catch up to catch up with men.
Warrants:

· Women’s best marathon times are about ten minutes behind men’s.

Women vs. Men in sports Summary

Men are better than women in sports. Women may not be as skilled as men because of there lack of muscle strength. It might be other reasons but anatomists have studied the difference between a male and female body to find the solution. The female body is the weaker form of the male body. Since the beginning of time, men have contributed in sports but women have not. Every year men constantly break records while women slowly break them but woman are slowly catching up to men though. Over the years woman have been getting more aggressive and participating in sports men normally do such as boxing. They are slowly getting stronger and building skill which over time woman may compete with men but for now, men are the dominate ones in sports.

Story Assignments

Hills like white Elephants
Summary

There is a little station next to the railroad tracks in the hills across the valley. The setting is taken place in a Spanish area. Two young couples are waiting for the train to Madrid. While they are waiting for the train, the couples are drinking. The man is worried about something. His girl may be in some trouble. The man keeps talking about there are going to have a good time and the woman changes the subject by saying “Hills Like White Elephants’ because the clouds are white like white elephants. The woman is trying to think about other things to cover her problem. At the end, the woman tells her man everything is going to be just fine to calm there worries.

My Opinion

The story is weird. The woman must be going through a problem because the man is worrying about her. The woman must be sick or they are going through a break up in my opinion. It seems the woman brings up the white clouds to change the subject of her man’s worries. The man doesn’t really pay attention so she tells him to be quiet and get her bags ready for the train. Her saying everything is fine is her just trying to calm the man down before they hop on the train to Madrid.

Qualities I Would Change About Myself

Procrastinate:
One of my biggest problems is procrastinating. I do it all the time on schoolwork and chores. It is a habit I should not get accustomed to when I get older. I realize procrastinating on a big job can get me fired.

laziness:
I tend to be lazy at times. I always find ways to sleep when I am not suppose too. If I do not feel like working out, I find ways to slack sometimes.

Qualities I Wouldn't Change About Myself

Qualities I would not change

Family- My family mean everything in the world to me.

Friends- all my friends I have grew up with are my biggest supporters.

My Talent- My talent in sports because it kept me out of trouble.

My Pet Peeves

People with bad breath- I can not stand people with bad breath especially women. I realize the people who do have bad breath are the ones that are all up in your face trying to converse with you. If you have bad breath, I do not want anything to do with you until you handle that.

Talkers- Talkers are people that talk a lot. Talkers mainly get on my nerves when I am in a rush or trying to get some where. It also works my nerves when people complain about every little thing like my roomate and High School friend( Kenneth Wells).

Flexers- Flexers are people who act one way with you ,but act a different way around others to fit in. It bothers me to see how fake people can be. I think everyone should be theirself.

A Letter To My Doubters

Dear all my Doubters,

This letter refers to all the people that tried to prevent me from becoming who I am today. Without you I would have never been what I have become. I would have never played sports. I would have never won a state championship ring in track or attend Concordia College to further my education without the doubts of you all. Your doubts of me made me become a stronger person. It raises my self-esteem and I realize that the world is a cruel place but that will not stop me, but keep doubting because you will see what I will become in the future.

Letter To My Supporters

To all my supporters in life,

This letter is to all the people who helped me become who I am today. I appreciate the help and support. Without you, I would have never accomplished my goals. I do not know where I would be now without you. Without my supporters, my future could have been what my doubters wanted me to be. So I thank you all for helping me become successful one step at a time.

A Major Lesson I Learned Thus Far In Life

I have learned many diiferent lessons in life. The one major lesson I have learned is life is how you make it out to be. Keep your head up and think positive. Do the right thing so your future can be bright.

Self Analysis

I am a black male born on August 23, 1991 to the Squires Family. Growing up I had never been the smartest kid in class. I just did what it takes to get by. I am a real good athlete. Now I am a freshman at Concordia College trying to change my ways a little. The sports I play got into college but now I have to be serious with the grades because this is where my future really starts. I am a chill person with enough common sense to succeed in life. I believe life is hard if you make it out to be that way. Being focused and ready is how I take on life. Finishing college and getting a degree in business or education is my plan. Use my degree to life a better life than my parents. I have what its necessary to succeed in life because I work hard for my accomplishments. God put me on this earth to stand out from others and that is what I plan to do.

MY Philosophy Of Life

My philosophy on life is quite simple but I have more than one. Work hard, don’t give up and life is how you make it out to be. Those are my philosophies on life because people been telling me this my whole life so far. Old people, Smart people, dumb people gives me heads up on how to approach life almost everyday. I am sure these people want to see me succeed in life because you only live once. At first I never really paid attention to my philosophies until I opened my eyes and looked just to see older peoples results in life.
One of my three philosophies is do not give up. Giving up when times are hard is not the right thing to do. It shows that you are a quitter. If you play sports and you do not start, quitting is not the option. Practice to become the best if you want to be the best. I tried to quiet football but my favorite coach sat me down for a talk. He told me god gave me talent and I should use it to the best of my ability. Quitting will start to become a bad habit. After he told me that, I promised myself to never be a quitter.

My next philosophy is work hard. I believe working hard in life leads to great rewards. People who slack in life get nothing. Someone who works hard at his or her job and community deserves a reward. Plus rewards given to you after working hard to accomplish something is more appreciated.

My third and last philosophy in life is a saying “ life is how you make it out to be”. My grandparents say this every single time we talk. I believe this because one day I opened my eyes and looked around to see the adults result in life. I see people who make positive choices in life have a higher chance in becoming successful in. The people who choose bad decision don’t make it anywhere. My goal is to make the right decisions to become successful and an inspiration to others.

These three philosophies are what I believe in until the day I die. Other people may not look at life the same way I do but this is I. My philosophies may change how people look at life and that would be a good thing.
